what brings people here

what’s actually happening

Our nervous systems are always learning what’s safe, what’s not, and how to restore safety to the best of their abilities when it’s lacking. Most of this learning happens outside of our conscious awareness and becomes habitual over time.

Understanding these patterns can be incredibly validating, but we often discover that understanding alone doesn’t lead to change. You may know exactly why you act the way you do, yet feel unable to respond any differently.

A somatic approach recognizes that these patterns are not malfunctions or decisions — they’re protective adaptations. And meaningful change requires working at the level where these adaptations formed, rather than trying to override them with logic or willpower (turns out, you can’t win an argument with your nervous system!)

how we work with it

Sessions are usually structured around what’s happening in the present rather than on a preset agenda or extended analysis of the past. We follow what shows up in real time and decide together where to focus.

We move slowly and in small pieces. The focus is not on catharsis, confrontation, or “breakthroughs,” but on building enough felt safety for responses to begin to shift over time.

We regularly check in on pace, direction, and how the work feels between us. You’re not expected to push through discomfort to make progress, and you’re not asked to perform insight, regulation, or vulnerability.

    • Orienting to what feels present as you arrive

    • Slowing down to attune to what’s here and what needs attention

    • Tracking emotions, sensations, and reactions as they emerge

    • Choosing together when to stay with words and when to shift into experiential work like gentle movement, visualization, sensory exploration, or guided attention

    • Bringing in grounding as needed

    • Integrating current work with what we’ve been building over time

    Parts Work

An approach that brings curiosity and compassion to inner tensions that may make you feel stuck or be self-critical. By seeing these as meaningful aspects of your inner “system” (each with its own perspective and intention), we help them settle into a more coherent whole that aligns with your core values.

    Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy

A body-based, trauma-informed approach that looks at how early experiences and ongoing stress shaped your nervous system.

We use paced attention and anchor in safety to support gradual shifts — helping restore regulation, connection, and trust in yourself.

    Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT)

A treatment for physical symptoms that arise from a sensitized nervous system detecting potential dangers, rather than from ongoing disease or tissue damage.

I bring a compassionate lived understanding of chronic illness and pain to my approach.

Therapy isn’t about “fixing” something broken. It’s about finding your way back to yourself.
